We're a design firm based out of Brooklyn, NY. And simply put, we love creating beautiful, flexible designs. Whether we're working with you on a new identity, a website, or a mobile GUI, the goal is to build a living, breathing product — one that scales to your needs now... and later. With an ever-evolving online landscape, these days creativity is adaptability, and that's what we want to give you. All wrapped up in a sweet design.
Nicholas Feldman, a co-founder of GWAV, is our in-house renaissance man, with expertise in brand identity development, web design, and all things 3-D — from print to product to furniture design. Nick's uniquely broad background comes in quite handy for translating our online design endeavors to print and beyond, and vice versa.
Prior to founding GWAV with Jessica, Nick acted as Creative Director for the NYC chapter of the
Industrial Designers Society of America, where he was able to shift seamlessly between his love of graphic and industrial design, overseeing all web, print, and event production elements as well as designing the chapter's biannual magazine. During his work with IDSA, Nick also did graphic and production design as the Design Director for Motionlab, a video production boutique, collaborated with furniture designer
Jeffrey Bernett, and freelanced for a range of clients.
Previously, in his hand-sketching, model-making days, Nick was a Product Designer for award-winning industrial design firm
MyDesign Group in Long Island City, where he transitioned after a stint as Junior Designer at product design consultancy
Ecco Design, whose clients included LG Electronics, Herman Miller, Gillette, HTC Electronics, and Bausch & Lomb. Nick graduated from the University of Michigan with a BFA in Industrial Design, and studied the history of art & architecture in Florence, Italy.
Jessica Bauer-Greene, a co-founder of GWAV, is our resident web design guru. She oversees the translation of all conceptual and print design into the online space and keeps us abreast of the latest programming tricks and techniques. Basically, she makes sure that all our interactive endeavors are tightly executed and up to snuff.
In tandem with founding GWAV in 2003, Jessica also acted as the Creative Director for
Flavorpill — a publisher of leading-edge editorial on culture — where she oversaw the design of a host of email publications and a multi-faceted website, as well as various advertorial and curatorial projects. Prior to that role, Jessica was a Lead Designer and Photo Editor at Time Warner publishing group. There, she honed her programming and management skills, while moonlighting as the Creative Director and Head Designer of the now-defunct DesignScout, a B2B group that connected marketers with designers.
Before blossoming into creative director-dom, Jessica interned at the NYC design firm
Whitehouse & Company. She received a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Michigan (in just three years, the smartypants), and studied Art History in Paris.
Jocelyn is a talented editor, a savvy content planner, and our personal design sommelier. In addition to acting as a creative consultant and project manager for GWAV, Jocelyn is a roving editorial consultant (clients have included
PSFK,
LVHRD, and
JC Report) and freelance writer. Jocelyn's prior experience includes acting as Senior Managing Editor for music website
ARTISTdirect in 2007, assisting the company with increasing their original editorial and improving content presentation. Prior to that, Jocelyn was the Global Managing Editor at
Flavorpill for over three years, overseeing the publisher's 11 email magazines and website content, collaborating on the development of new editorial products, and managing a team of over 25 editors scattered around the world.
Jocelyn has also been the managing editor of
Topic magazine's website, assisting the acclaimed independent publication in re-envisioning their online content. After graduating from Boston University with a BA in Literature & Film, she originally honed her online fluency working as a website builder and copyeditor at G2G productions, a web design firm. Prior to that, she gained entry into the publishing world as an editorial assistant at the MIT Press and an intern at the Houston alternative newsweekly,
The Public News. Oh, and did we mention her high school zine?
Justin Jewett is a co-founder of
Rocket Society, our strategic production partner. While we at GWAV focus our attention on the design of your project, Rocket Society trains its magical coding powers on programming it, and — voila! — a great (and efficiently executed) solution is born. The 'Society specializes in all things web, which means html, css, javascript, php, flash, and custom solutions.
Justin has been involved with developing and implementing custom web presences for over 10 years, keeping abreast of emerging technology and honing his production and management skills. Justin engages those around him with a creative drive to understand both broad-stroke and fine-point details in as clear, direct, and efficient terms as possible. Unlike many an uncommunicative coder, Justin likes open lines of communication and can happily pow-wow with our clients' tech folk when necessary.
